Midway Overnighter

Similar to the first year of marriage, we are learning a smorgasbord of things in our union with the airstream. For instance a Saturday night to Sunday morning trip is a bit hasty for our taste and it is important to make sure the TP clears the toilet valve as to not allow any gas leakage. I didn’t realize human waste could smell so violent. On a less foul note, our little trip to the Wasatch State Park in Midway did indeed yield some pretty perfect moments.

Shortly after our arrival, Jack turned into a child wizard with deep thoughts that had us chuckling. He was investigating a kids dream fort made from a grove of arching tree branches and exclaimed, “I found it! I found the destiny of the world!”. Later while sitting on the potty reflecting on his day, he said to Cody, “This is the greatest life..”. Jacks main ingredient certainly is sunshine.

My brother Gary and his amazing Girlfriend Maxine came out for a bit and indulged us with pictures and stories from their unbelievable expedition through China. We ate, talked and giggled at Fiona contently roasting her mallows (not quite) over the fire. Whether it’s in the mountains or in our own backyard, the campfire seems to always lay on thick those invaluable forever memories.

After we all hopped into the trailer and got rid of a certain unorthodox smell it was so sweet reading to Jack and Fi together before bed. To see the comfort and joy they have being able to sleep close to each has been unexpectedly rewarding. A little two for one bedtime routine, a little “marshmallow after breakfast if you don’t talk” bribery and badabing badaboom- a relaxing night in the airstream commenced.

We made it home Sunday morning celebrating the little victories with our Savior in our hearts and looking forward to a night with friends at our table. Until next time, I will be balancing the anticipation of future adventures with being present.

xoxo
